Filming & photo permits

If you would like to film or take photos at Gatwick, please complete our permit request form.

The press office will come back to you within five days with your permit or to discuss why we cannot authorise your request.

Security, passenger safety, our airport operations, the views of our airlines, and resource availability are considered for every filming or photography request received. You must have public liability insurance to film or take photos at Gatwick.

While we will strive to accommodate your request, there will be times where we will not allow filming or photography.

Gatwick charges a fee for all commercial filming and photography (this excludes news media and any filming/photography being done on behalf of Gatwick’s business partners).

If your request is authorised, you will receive a permit on email. This must be shown to any member of Gatwick staff or police who request to see it while you are on site. If you do not have a permit, you will be asked to leave the airport.

News media

‘Live’ broadcasts are not easily accommodated within the terminal building and generally cabling across the floor is not permitted for health and safety reasons unless it is for truly exceptional circumstances.

The Ofcom approved location for satellite trucks to park and broadcast ‘live’ from is the passenger drop off area outside Gatwick's North Terminal. A space is allocated on a first come first served basis.

Please contact the Gatwick Press Office on +44 (0) 1293 505000 to arrange this before making your way to the airport.

Locations

There are two distinctive areas of the airport – landside and airside.

Definitions:

  • Landside – all areas of the airport that are accessible to members of the public
  • Airside (international departure lounge and airfield) – the part of the airport inside the security boundary subject to the security requirements of the Department for Transport’s rules as a secure area. Entry by members of the public without valid travel documents is prohibited.

Permitted Areas:

Landside:

  • North Terminal and South Terminal arrivals hall, forecourt and concourse
