London Gatwick brings management of multi-million-pound advertising estate in-house
- London Gatwick will work directly with brands and agencies to unlock new advertising and partnership opportunities
- Greater flexibility will support more creative, tailored campaigns across the airport's premium media estate – including more than 250 digital advertising screens and static locations across the airport
- Brands can connect with more than 40 million global passengers a year in one of the UK's busiest airport environments
London Gatwick has announced plans to bring the management of its airport-wide advertising estate in-house, giving brands a direct route to one of the UK's largest and most valuable travel audiences.
The move – which will come into effect on 1 April 2027 - will enable London Gatwick to work more closely with advertisers and agency partners, creating campaigns that better connect with the airport's 40 million-plus global passengers and make the most of the airport environment.
Over recent years, London Gatwick has invested significantly in its media estate, expanding its portfolio of more than 250 premium digital screens, high-impact advertising sites and passenger engagement opportunities throughout the airport.
As passenger numbers continue to grow, London Gatwick offers brands access to a large, diverse and highly engaged audience at key moments in their journey, whether travelling for business, leisure or visiting friends and family.
The move also comes at an exciting time for the airport, which has received government approval to progress its Northern Runway Programme, which will enable London Gatwick to welcome up to 80m passengers a year upon completion.
Oliver Bedford, Head of Airport Access, Marketing & Commercial Products, London Gatwick said: "London Gatwick gives brands the opportunity to reach millions of consumers in a unique environment, at a time when they're engaged, making decisions and preparing for their journey.
"Bringing our advertising estate in-house will allow us to work more directly with brands and agencies, develop more creative opportunities and build partnerships that deliver value for everyone involved.
"We would also like to thank Global for their support and partnership in managing the airport's advertising estate over many years."
With around 43m annual passengers, London Gatwick is the UK’s second largest and one of Europe’s top airports. It is a vital piece of national infrastructure that drives both the national and regional economies by generating £5.5bn GVA and supporting over 76,000 jobs (2023). More than 60 airlines fly from the airport to over 160 short-haul and more than 50 long-haul destinations. With a declared maximum capacity of 57 movements an hour, London Gatwick is the most efficient single runway airport in the world.
The airport is located 28 miles south of the UK capital and is extremely well-connected, with more than a quarter of England’s population (15m people) – including all of London – less than one hour away by road or rail. A six-year, £2bn sustainable growth programme includes an ambitious plan to be a net zero airport by 2030 and to increase capacity by bringing the airport’s existing Northern Runway into routine use, alongside its Main Runway. VINCI Airports owns a 50.01% stake in the airport, with Global Infrastructure Partners managing the remaining 49.99%.
