- London Gatwick welcomed 13 graduates to the 2024 graduate programme last month
University graduates are invited to apply for London Gatwick's 2025 graduate programme, which will give at least nine individuals the opportunity to launch their careers at one of the UK’s busiest and most dynamic airports.
The programme will begin in September 2025 and offers roles across departments such as Construction, Commercial, Corporate Affairs, Engineering, IT, and Sales and Operations Planning, along with Development which was newly introduced this year. The construction programme is offered as a three-year contract, with all others spanning two years.
London Gatwick welcomed 13 graduates last month from a range of undergraduate and master’s degrees, such as Crisis and Disaster Management, Aerospace Engineering, Geography and Computer Science from universities including Sussex, Kent, Portsmouth and Imperial College London.
Finlay Nichols, Sustainability Graduate, London Gatwick said: “From day one I’ve been involved in exciting projects, such as key technological developments in sustainable aviation fuel and hydrogen. The support from my leaders and peers has been incredible and I’ve gained a deep understanding of airport operations. I am excited to continue to build my knowledge and understanding in this evolving sector and support London Gatwick on its journey to net zero.”
Bronwen Jones, Development Director, London Gatwick said: “We are delighted to welcome talented individuals to our graduate programme each year. Their fresh perspectives and innovative thinking are vital as we continue to grow and shape the future of the airport.
“I began my career at London Gatwick as a graduate myself and have since worked in lots of different areas, including Security, Operations, Baggage and Construction. I now lead the airport’s multi-million-pound development programme. The opportunities at London Gatwick are endless and your career can go in so many different directions.”
Alongside the opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the world’s most efficient single runway airport, the programme offers graduates a comprehensive induction, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training, exposure to London Gatwick’s leadership team, and development training supported by a dedicated mentor.
Applications for the 2025 graduate programme are open until 7 November, and candidates can apply via the London Gatwick careers page.
London Gatwick is investing in its long-term future. The examination phase of the airport’s planning application to bring its existing Northern Runway into routine use has now concluded, with a decision expected to follow in early 2025. London Gatwick’s low-impact plan will improve resilience, reduce delays, and provide a significant boost to the national and regional economy by supporting trade, tourism, and new jobs.
With 41 million annual passengers, London Gatwick is the UK’s second largest and one of Europe’s top ten airports. It is a vital piece of national infrastructure that drives both the national and regional economies by generating £5.5 billion GVA and supporting over 76,000 jobs (2023). Almost 60 airlines fly from the airport to over 150 short-haul and more than 50 long-haul destinations. With a declared capacity of 55 movements an hour, London Gatwick is the most efficient single runway airport in the world.
The airport is located 28 miles south of the UK capital and is extremely well-connected, with more than a quarter of England’s population (15 million people) – including all of London – less than one hour away by road or rail. A six-year, £2 billion sustainable growth programme includes an ambitious plan to be a net zero airport by 2030 and to increase capacity by bringing the airport’s existing Northern Runway into routine use, alongside its Main Runway. Vinci Airports owns a 50.01% stake in the airport, with Global Infrastructure Partners managing the remaining 49.99%.
The world’s leading private airport operator, VINCI Airports operates more than 70 airports in 14 countries. Thanks to its expertise as a global integrator, VINCI Airports develops, finances, builds and manages airports by providing its investment capacity and its know-how in optimizing operational performance, modernizing infrastructure and managing their operations and environmental transition. VINCI Airports is the first airport operator to have committed to an international environmental strategy in 2016, to achieve the goal of net zero emissions across its entire network by 2050.
