London Gatwick ranks top in London for passenger experience and prepares for busy Easter as new airlines and routes take off
- Passengers ranked London Gatwick as capital’s best airport for overall experience in 2025
- Passengers can take liquids up to 2L in hand luggage
- London Gatwick offers passengers a number of new routes and services this Easter, with new airlines including Jet2, Air France, Condor, Eurowings and Animawings
As London Gatwick gears up for another busy Easter period, travellers can feel reassured they will be getting a first-class experience as the airport is recognised for its outstanding passenger service.
The airport has been recognised as London’s highest ranked airport for overall passenger experience in the latest Airport Service Quality (ASQ) results.
Based on passenger feedback complied by Airports Council International (ACI), London Gatwick was the highest ranked London airport for Overall Experience in 2025 and led the capital across all security screening measures - Ease in Security Screening, Waiting Time: Security Screening, and Courtesy & Helpfulness: Security Staff.
Passengers travelling this Easter will benefit from London Gatwick’s state-of-the-art security, which saw travellers pass through security in less than five minutes more than 95% of the time in 2025.
The airport’s multi-million-pound investment means liquids of up to two litres and electronic devices, including laptops and e-readers, can remain inside cabin bags at security – ensuring a hassle-free experience.
Short-haul breaks are expected to lead over the Easter holidays with Barcelona, Malaga, Alicante, Dublin and Geneva among the most popular choices – a mix of vibrant cities and sunshine escapes.
Passengers are also preparing to travel further afield, with top long-haul options including Orlando, Shanghai and Cancun. The airport’s busiest day over the holidays is set to be Easter Sunday with 800 flights.
The Easter period will also see London Gatwick welcome five new airlines, with the arrival of Jet2, Air France, Condor, Eurowings and Animawings, while AirAsia X, Air Arabia and Beijing Capital will touch down in coming weeks. A range of new routes will also be available from the likes of Norwegian and Royal Air Maroc, giving passengers the choice of more than 220 destinations.
Jonathan Pollard, Chief Commercial Officer, London Gatwick said: “Being London’s highest-ranked airport for Overall Experience in 2025 is a fantastic endorsement of our teams and the service our passengers receive every day. With new airlines and routes taking off over Easter and into summer, our growing global network gives passengers even more choice – while we stay focussed and committed to delivering an excellent experience.”

With around 43m annual passengers, London Gatwick is the UK’s second largest and one of Europe’s top airports. It is a vital piece of national infrastructure that drives both the national and regional economies by generating £5.5bn GVA and supporting over 76,000 jobs (2023). More than 60 airlines fly from the airport to over 160 short-haul and more than 50 long-haul destinations. With a declared maximum capacity of 57 movements an hour, London Gatwick is the most efficient single runway airport in the world.
The airport is located 28 miles south of the UK capital and is extremely well-connected, with more than a quarter of England’s population (15m people) – including all of London – less than one hour away by road or rail. A six-year, £2bn sustainable growth programme includes an ambitious plan to be a net zero airport by 2030 and to increase capacity by bringing the airport’s existing Northern Runway into routine use, alongside its Main Runway. VINCI Airports owns a 50.01% stake in the airport, with Global Infrastructure Partners managing the remaining 49.99%.
VINCI Airports, as the leading private airport operator in the world, manages the development and operation of more than 70 airports located in 14 countries.
