New Director of Communications and External Affairs joins London Gatwick

Global leader in communications Sam Fulton has this week joined London Gatwick as the airport’s new Director of Communications and External Affairs. 

Leading teams across communications and engagement, Sam will be responsible for protecting and enhancing the airport’s reputation as it works towards achieving London Gatwick’s mission to be the airport for everyone, whatever your journey. 

Part of London Gatwick’s executive team, Sam will also focus on the airport’s strategic communications direction, community outreach and external affairs. In addition, Sam will oversee the airport’s Noise and Airspace Strategy team, who work to soften the impact of airport noise and carry out the Government-led programme to modernise UK airspace surrounding London Gatwick. 

Sam joins London Gatwick from Nomad Foods (Birds Eye, Aunt Bessie’s and Goodfella’s) where she was Group Director for Corporate Affairs and Sustainability. She has a wealth of experience in communications, sustainability and external affairs following an impressive career at leading international organisations including Apple, Unilever, McDonald’s and Nestlé.

Sam will take over from Tim Norwood, who was Director of Corporate Affairs at London Gatwick for more than seven years. Tim will continue to serve in his role as Chief Planning Officer, as well leading the work on promoting the airport’s Northern Runway Project. 

London Gatwick is the UK’s second largest airport and is a vital piece of national infrastructure that helps drive both the regional and national economy. More than 40 airlines fly from the airport to over 150 short-haul and more than 45 long-haul destinations. The airport is focused on rebuilding and growing sustainably in the long term. It has ambitious plans to be a net zero airport by 2030 and increase capacity by bringing its Northern runway into routine use.  VINCI Airports owns a 50.01% stake in the airport, with Global Infrastructure Partners managing the remaining 49.99% interest.
